Juhu

Open-air sound
in Juhu.

Juhu is lawns, terraces, bungalows and hotels facing the sea. Almost all of it is open air, and open air is the hardest place to make sound work — which is exactly why the rig has to be designed for it rather than carried over from an indoor job.

Why open air needs more, not less

Indoors, the walls and ceiling do half the work: sound reflects and the room stays loud at the back. Outdoors there is nothing to reflect off, so the level falls away fast and the back of a lawn ends up hearing a thin version of the party. The fix is not simply turning it up, which only punishes the first three rows. It is more boxes, placed and aimed so the lawn is covered evenly from front to back.

Wind, sea air and a long night

On a sea-facing lawn the wind moves the sound around and the salt gets into everything. We weight and secure the stands rather than trusting a calm evening, keep connections covered, and clean the gear down afterwards. It is why equipment that works near the coast needs checking more often than a catalogue photo would suggest.

Power, cable runs and the lawn itself

Garden sockets rarely carry a full rig, so plan for a generator and agree where it sits — far enough away that nobody hears it, close enough to cable. Across grass and sand, runs get matted and pegged so guests and staff are not stepping over them all night. Dew is real: anything that has to survive until the last song gets covered.
